Advocacy in Mind
Taunton and West Somerset Mind Advocacy is a free service.
Clients with mental health issues tell us that their voice gets lost when decisions are being made about issues that involve them on a day to day basis. It can be difficult to express your wishes when you are feeling anxious or depressed. This could be decisions about your treatment and care, or any issues – the list can be endless but they affect you. Advocacy makes sure that you have a voice, so you wishes are expressed, listened to, taken into consideration, and that you are treated with respect.
Taunton and West Somerset Mind advocates are independent, working with and for you. We do not
advise or make decisions for you. You can speak freely to an advocate: we do not
share information without your permission.
Peer Support Services
Peer support means people supporting each other on an equal basis, to offer something based on shared experiences. Peer support offers many benefits, for example: shared identity and acceptance, increased self-confidence, the value of helping others, developing and sharing skills, improved mental health, emotional resilience and wellbeing, information and signposting, challenging stigma and discrimination
Brolly Talk
