YMCA Brunel Group provides support to young people aged 10-19 through Youth & Community work.
Our youth work welcomes anyone aged between 10 and 19 years (up to 25 years old with Special Educational Needs); some of these young people can be vulnerable and/or have additional needs. We provide safe environments where every young person’s view is considered. We operate in 8 youth clubs, 4 Young Carers groups, project & outreach work across East & South Somerset.
We ensure continued engagement and participation in planned programmes of positive activities and issue-based work; relevant to the needs and development of individuals and peer groups. All of our activities are designed to develop social and life skills, increase confidence and resilience, and help young people move away from any harmful behaviours.
Our Youth Club programmes are delivered through non-formal educational activities which combine enjoyment, challenge and learning. We want young people to develop hobbies that will last a lifetime, enrich their lives and the lives of others. We run inclusive sessions where everyone is welcome.
Our aim is for all our young people to have ambition for themselves, to be confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens; and to be nurtured, safe, active, healthy, achieving, included, respected and responsible in their communities. We want to encourage young people to connect creatively with their community and learn how to become better neighbours through that connection.

YMCA Brunel Group provides Health & Wellbeing at YMCA Bath Gym.
Community is at the heart of our gym – we strive to create an environment where anyone can feel the confidence to work on their wellbeing with us.
Our health & wellbeing centre is part of our charitable work and funds raised through membership or casual usage are used first to cover all the running costs associated with the facility and any surplus funds allow us to invest in our centre as well as support other parts of our charity – which mainly focuses on working with vulnerable young people. That support might be through a health & wellbeing programme or through our accommodation services.
Therefore if you chose to be a member of our YMCA centre or use our facilities then you are actively supporting the community – so whilst you might be getting fitter someone else is also getting some vital help and support at a difficult time in their lives. Thank you for choosing to support what we do.
