Self Help Housing Association is a non profit organisation providing supported housing for homeless client groups.
People stay in our accommodation for between 6 months and two years and during this time, we work in partnership to prevent any return to homelessness and ultimately to access a permanent home.
The majority of our single persons accommodation is in shared housing. Tenants get their own lockable room and share the living room, bathroom and kitchen. Our shared housing is dispersed throughout the Bristol area.
We also have a number of self contained flats in central Bristol for single people. New applicants usually move in to shared housing initially, and make the move to self contained as part of their support plan. See Services.
Most of our family properties are managed in partnership with Bristol City Council and are used to house statutory homeless families while a permanent home can be found. For this reason, we can only house families nominated by the local authority.
If you are homeless and have dependants you should contact your local authority homeless section. See Links in the first instance.
We try to help anyone with a housing or support need who contacts us . If we don't have the skills or resources to help, we usually know somewhere that does.
We also offer advice on housing, homelessness, benefits, grants and budgeting and community resources and we also provide advocacy and representation services.
Every Self Help tenant has access to a specialist support worker who can help with a whole range of issues ona 1:1 basis. We also offer group work options for individuals who feel comfortable in a group environment. For a more detailed explanation of the support we can offer, please click on Services.
We have a number of properties in Central and South Bristol.
Properties for single people are mainly shared, self contained units are used for clients who are unable to share with others due to their personal characteristics.
Family housing is available and is self contained.
The wide range of support and signposting we offer is accessible at our properties, our office base and in outreach locations.
We can now only accept referrals to our housing through Bristol City Council's Housing and Support Register.
For further details about how to access supported housing via the supported housing register please contact us on 0845 2700 605 or Contact Us by email for further details.
